Summarize

You have learned how to identify the central idea and supporting details in primary and secondary sources from Determine the Central Ideas and Supporting Details. Now you will learn how to use the central idea and supporting details in order to summarize such texts. When you summarize, you use your own words to tell the most important ideas in a passage without adding personal opinions or making judgments. Summarizing helps you understand and remember what you’ve read.
